One could divide humanity into two classes:
those who master a metaphor, and those who hold by a formula.
Those with a bent for both are too few, they do not comprise a class.
Imagine why an underling would say it.
Make doubts hinge on the adjective 'true'.
Impugn concealment; or wonder how we would ever get by without it.
Point out what's not hidden.
Conspire with the reader; let him count himself in.
Enlarge groups no one wants admission to.
Sketch a type with assurance.
Use the first-person plural like a defector.
Deflect the blame for invidious comparisons onto the words used to make them.
