An Ordinary of Siebmacher's Wappenbuch

This is an ongoing project to create an exhaustive ordinary of Johann Siebmacher's Wappenbuch from 1605. I am working from the digitization of it available here. If you find any error, please let me know. As a work in progress, it will be updated as I have time.

All blazons are my own. Note that in some cases, shields with a helmet facing sinister have had their arms reversed as well (e.g., a bend is displayed as a bend sinister, the tinctures of the field reversed, etc. So if you think you've found an error, double check the helm on top!) Each blazon is identified with the name of the owner as it appears in Siebmacher, with these conventions: I have transcribed vocalic v as u, and expanded , Gē:, and to en, genannt, and Von, respectively. The number in parentheses is the plate number on which the arms occur.


BEND SINISTER - 1

Argent, a bend sinister and a chief gules, die Wisbecken (83).

Argent, a cross gules, overall an escutcheon Or charged with a lion contourny sable crowned gules debruised by a bendlet sinister argent, Hertzogavrach (225).

Argent, on a bend sinister Or, three roses azure seeded Or, von Chila (70).

Argent, on a bend sinister sable, three escallops bendwise inverted Or, von Uttinghof (146).

Azure, an eagle's leg couped a la quise winged argent charged with a scarpe gules, die Kracht (170).

Gules, a bend sinister argent, von Kageneck (192), die Mærger (35), von Wildenstein (102).

Gules, on a bend sinister argent, three mullets of six points Or, von Rödern (36).

Or, a demi-lion contourny sable crowned gules issuant from a ford proper and debruised by a bendlet sinister argent, Vilseck (225).

Per bend Or and gules, a lion sable and a bend sinister terminating at the line of division argent, Lavant (12).

Per pale argent and gules, bend sinister vert pierced of three trefoils palewise, Felsberg (223).

Quarterly 1st and 4th gules, a chevron inverted throughout argent, 2nd and 3rd azure, a bend sinister argent between a mullet of six points Or and a crescent argent, overall an escutcheon gules charged with a rose Or, von Chontzin (38).

Quarterly 1st and 4th per saltire Or and sable, in pale two leopard's heads and in fess two fleurs-de-lys counterchanged, 2nd and 3rd gules, a bend sinister argent, overall an escutcheon Or charged with a dog rampant sable atop a trimount azure, Unverzagt (33).
