For the lecture series we intend to have two lectures per term; each term, one speaker will be from Durham and one will be an external expert.  This will allow the university to showcase the expertise that it has in this field, highlighting the university as a place where medieval thought and philosophy is valued and supported, as well as to benefit from interaction with the leading academics in the relevant areas.  In selecting speakers we wish to highlight the diversity of the field: This will mean inviting speakers from a range of different disciplines, who are at different stages of their academic careers, and who can provide effective role-models for students considering entering this field.
